CSK Have A New Sponsor For IPL 2024, First Look Of MS Dhoni’s Jersey Goes Viral
Chennai Super Kings (CSK), the five-time champions of the Indian Premier League (IPL), have recently announced a fresh sponsorship agreement with Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates. In an event celebrating this collaboration, fans were treated to a sneak peek of CSK’s jersey for the upcoming season, adorned with the logo of Etihad Airways on the back. A viral video even revealed the back of CSK captain MS Dhoni’s jersey, showcasing the new sponsorship.
MS Dhoni’s No.7 jersey was prominently featured when Etihad was revealed as CSK’s sponsor, creating a buzz among fans. As anticipation builds for Dhoni’s return to IPL action, he has been seen hitting the nets in preparation for the tournament.
Despite retiring from international cricket in August 2020, Dhoni remains active as a cricketer exclusively in the IPL. Under his captaincy, CSK secured a record-equalling fifth title in the previous season, clinching a thrilling victory over Gujarat Titans in the final held in Ahmedabad.
CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan addressed the curiosity surrounding Dhoni’s future after the upcoming season, stating that only Dhoni himself could provide clarity on whether it would be his last edition.
Regarding Dhoni’s recent knee surgery in early June, Viswanathan assured fans that the iconic player is progressing well in his rehabilitation. Dhoni has initiated gym workouts and is expected to resume net practice in about ten days, ensuring his match fitness well ahead of IPL 2024.
In their pursuit of retaining the IPL title, CSK made significant moves during the Players Auction in Dubai on December 19. The MS Dhoni-led team acquired six players, with New Zealand all-rounder Daryl Mitchell emerging as their most expensive buy at Rs 14 crore. CSK surprised many by securing uncapped Indian batter Sameer Rizvi for Rs 8.4 crore. Additionally, they retained India all-rounder Shardul Thakur following his release from KKR.
