The tradition of fireworks on the 4th of July dates back to the early days of the United States. Founding Father John Adams believed that July 2nd was the correct date to celebrate the birth of American independence. In a letter to his wife Abigail, he wrote:

“The Second Day of July 1776, will be the most memorable Epocha, in the History of America.
